For Valentine’s Day dinner this year – a perfectly cooked steak topped with caramelized onions, baby portabellos and blue cheese butter. Served with roasted multicolored potatoes, salad of mixed greens, golden raisins, sliced almonds, parmesan cheese, and of course, a nice glass of red wine.

Seared Ahi Salad

Seared sesame crusted Ahi Tuna over a salad of mixed greens, pea greens, snow peas, red cabbage, cucumber, carrot, pear, pineapple, green onion and topped with a sesame miso vinaigrette.

Frittata

Frittata with kale, onions and pancetta – topped with tomato and parmesan.

Blackened Salmon

This blackened salmon was simple to make and turned out flavorful, moist, and flaky. Coat the top of a salmon fillet with a blackening spice mixture like this one. Then place the fillet spice side down in a dry, smoking hot cast iron pan until cooked through.

Hearty Miso Soup

Miso broth with tofu, sho-yu tamago (soy sauce egg), seaweed, green onions, and peas. Served with steamed cabbage and soy sauce – such a ridiculously simple dish and so tasty! This was our first time trying the sho-yu tamago and we’ll definitely make them again. We used a recipe similar to this one.

Smoked Salmon Crostini

Homemade crostini topped with a caper dill sauce, cucumber, fresh dill, smoked salmon, and fresh lemon. Smoked salmon purchased from Katy’s Smoke House in Trinidad, California and was excellent.

The Eatery

I had the opportunity to photograph several menu items at a new local West Sacramento restaurant, The Eatery, last weekend. It was a great experience and I hope to do more photography for local restaurants in the near future. Thank you again to the crew at The Eatery – it was a pleasure!
